Check them out and find out yourself…

50K MUSIC: Who are you, where do you come from, …? Please tell us something about Lillith.
Lillith: Lillith consists of Camilla Hell on vocal, piano and musical-saw, Mr. Frantzen on guitar, Gregorius Grim Knockelkatt on cello and bass and Espen Engrønningen on percussion. Lilliths music is like entering a haunted wonderland. We like to invite the audience to a fever dream dance that can be described as black clad cabaret/rock, inspired from the 70s colorful scenes.

We live in a small costal-town called Aasgaardstrand in Norway. And once upon time the well known painter Edvard Munch used to live here, and he left some inspiration behind when he died. We get a lot of inspiration from the artistic life in the summertime in Aasgaardstrand and the arctic climate in the winter when the little town is deserted and the mighty sea wash the waves ashore.

Lillith debuted in 2010 with the album “Once I Was Alive”, which has collected great reviews both abroad and back home. For the moment we add the finishing touch to the material for our sequel.

50K MUSIC: How did you discover SellaBand? What are your expectations here?
Lillith: We were given tips by a person who had visited the page before.

In the beginning, when we decided to record our first album, Mr. Frantzen sold his apartment and Gregorius Grim sold his car to finance it all. This time we are in need of raising some money to finance the recording and release. To be quite honest we have no expectations at SellaBand, since this is the first time we do this. But, sites like this bring hope to musicians. Since the internet is the main distributor of music these days, musicians are more depending on the music-lovers than ever. Fans can more and more take part in the decision making which the big labels used to do, and help contribute to the projects which they believe in and the music they want to listen to.

50K MUSIC: How are you going to convince people to believe (and invest) in you?
Lillith: We have great faith in our next album! And we have worked hard to create new material, played many concerts and grown a lot as a band since the debut album. We are ready to bring our audience even further into our haunted wonderland, there are so many stories, so many songs to be played and we have only just begun!

50K MUSIC: You’ve just started your project on SellaBand. Have you thought about the time after reaching the goal of 5k yet? What are your plans then?
Lillith: Our main goal is to make a hell of an album, to show everybody that have believed in us and invested in us our infinite gratitude. Then we hope to play a lot of gigs, which brings us even closer to the people.

50K MUSIC: And last question: How can we support you to speed up raising your budget?
Lillith: Spread the word and let the jungle drums call upon those who want to be a part of the concept. We won’t disappoint you!

And if you listen to their songs you will surely understand what I mean. It’s time for part two of this week’s promising newcomers: Please welcome ANEKE with awesome Rock from Poland …

50K MUSIC: Who are you, where do you come from, …? Please tell us something about Aneke.
ANEKE: We are from Poland. There is four handsome men and one beauty:-) We started to play as Aneke on 1st of January 2010. We just want to play our music, meet other people and do our best during live shows. It’s that simple.

50K MUSIC: How did you discover SellaBand? What are your expectations here?
ANEKE: Frankly speaking, don’t remember. You know, link to link to link and suddenly you find an interesting idea like SellaBand. Our expectations are very simple – we hope people will like our music and let us to do another record with higher budget. We also want to book more gigs. It’s quite expensive nowadays. Especially travelling.

50K MUSIC: How are you going to convince people to believe (and invest) in you?
ANEKE: We are old fashioned humans. We believe good product doesn’t need marketing and fancy photos. Although we have some fancy photos too Anyway, here are our songs. You’ll buy it if you like it.

50K MUSIC: You’ve just started your project on SellaBand. Have you thought about the time after reaching the goal of 6k yet? What are your plans then?
ANEKE: Yes, we’ve got a very precised plan. We want to record 10-12 songs in very short time. No hundreds of overdubs, no studio hocus-pocus, just five people with instruments. Then we want to hit the road for few weeks. You cannot record music and lock it up in a drawer. You must face it with the people. At least we must.

50K MUSIC: And last question: How can we support you to speed up raising your budget?
ANEKE: You can introduce us to Marillion guys or Robert Smith… Honestly – you can just promote us in your magazine. Maybe you can tell about Aneke some people who can organize live shows in Europe? We don’t know your contacts, but any help will be appreciated. You can spread links to our music. More people = more chances.

Have a look at how they work in studio:

And they are quite successful so far. With over 1,000 € raised in a little bit more than three weeks they’re on a good way I think. I talked to them to introduce them to you…

50K MUSIC: Who are you, where do you come from, …? Please tell us something about My Awesome Mixtape.

MAM: Hi Guys we’re My Awesome Mixtape, 5 guys centered in the mid-northern part of Italy in a city called Bologna, we started this project in 2007 trying to play the more we can everywhere!!!

50K MUSIC: How did you discover SellaBand? What are your expectations here?

MAM: it’s only a matter of surfing on the net…nowadays getting money from the music is dramatically hard, in an historical time where the CD format is becoming obsolete, and concerts are no longer followed by crowd of people, the web turn to be the best way to get in contact with a large amount of people.

50K MUSIC: How are you going to convince people to believe (and invest) in you?

MAM: the obvious answer to this question is simply “the music” in itself and just like it sounds like…even if it can sound like a sort of post-romantic quote, I want to believe that the best way to convince people to invest in a band is all centered in the music the band plays!

50K MUSIC: You’ve just started your project on SellaBand. Have you thought about the time after reaching the goal of 10k yet? What are your plans then?

MAM: of course…the first target is to fund the release of our new album trying to invest a proper amount of money on that in order to reach a good quality level, then another point is to find some funds to go overseas, but let’s see…

50K MUSIC: And last question: How can we support you to speed up raising your budget?

MAM: just spreading the verb …www.myawesomemixtape.it

Info about My Awesome Mixtape:

My Awesome Mixtape’s story starts, like that of many other bands, in their bedroom.

That’s where, at the tail end of 2006, Maolo, Checco and Bebo – three spritely Bolognese regaz – half-jokingly start making music. Mixing and matching their favourite styles, they end up generating an original mix of indie rock, hip hop and electronica, the kind you cannot fail to dance to.

In the space of a few months, the band’s first songs become the talk of the town, and soon enough they are hailed everywhere as Italy’s next big thing.

At that point, leaving the bedroom to go out and play with the big kids is almost mandatory. After a few changes in line-up and solo experiments, My Awesome Mixtape become a fivesome: Maolo Torreggiani, Andrea Mancin, Andrea Sologni, Alessandro Scagliarini and Federico Spadoni. Their first album, titled “My Lonely and Sad Waterloo”, is published as a co-production between Italian labels My Honey Records and I dischi dell’amico immaginario, on September 8th 2007.

Upon the album’s release, the band has already played in half the country’s live venues, and tries successfully to go abroad and export their music in the rest of Europe.

At the end of 2008, MAM’s “Neverending Tour” will have lined up a smashing 158 live gigs, and gained the band an award as Best Live Band of the season at the annual Meeting of Independent Labels in Faenza.

That’s not the end of it. MAM’s participation in a compilation sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, the special guest appearance in the ensemble video for La nuova musica italiana by Italian hardcore sensations Linea77, and the re-release of “My Lonely And Sad Waterloo” in Germany through Rewika Records, and in Japan through P-Vine Records, start paving the way for a new album, scheduled for release in the fall of 2009.

“How Could a Village Turn Into a Town” was released in Italy through 42 Records (also home of Gatto Ciliegia Contro Il Grande Freddo, Kobenhavn Store and Fake P) and in Germany, Austria and Switzerland through Rewika Records.

Recorded by Bruno Germano of Settlefish, the album marks a new progression in My Awesome Mixtape’s artistic growth. Composed, arranged and played as a team effort, “How Could a Village Turn Into a Town” matches its predecessor’s freshness with a newfound maturity and awareness in handling and shaping sound.

The album was preceded before the summer by the “Other Houses” EP, issued by 42 Records in double format, digital and coloured cassette tape (for a total of 164 numbered copies). The EP was accompanied by two live videos, made by Opificio Ciclope for Italian web TV Pronti al peggio, and contain three new songs (two of which are not available anywhere else), as well as two remixes by hot items of the Italian club scene Congorock and Peluche (Dariella of hip hop band Amari and Matteo Lavagna of Disco Drive).

With a new and improved line-up, once again a five-piece but without guitars, (its members are Maolo Torreggiani, Andrea Mancin, Andrea Suriani, Alessandro Scagliarini and Federico Spadoni), My Awesome Mixtape made their comeback on the Italian stage, before they moved on to their next European tour, in September 2009, when the album was released.

“How Could A Village Turn Into A Town”, was released on September 2009.

Introducing yet another promising newcomer - he plays his music from the bottom of his heart ... and you can hear it. Scott Brunger raises funds to bring pure and true Country music back to its homeland.

50K M: Who are you, where do you come from, …? Please tell us something about Scott Brunger.
Scott: My name is Scott Brunger, I come from Maidstone in Kent and I’m 27. I was brought up on a council estate in Maidstone, I never finished school yet went on to get a degree in music at Chichester University in West Sussex. I am proud of my education but I am also aware that it is useless, I wrote songs from the heart and not the head before uni and still do now. I am a father of two beautiful girls but other than that I am just a songwriter and nothing more. I live only to see my music succeed and that one fact about me describes almost everything else I am.

50K M: How did you discover SellaBand?
Scott: I had a burst of energy one morning whilst looking after my youngest daughter and decided to join all of Reverb Nations affiliates. I particularly liked Sellaband as I had not come across that kind of format before.

50K M: How are you going to convince people to believe (and invest) in you?
Scott: I find it hard to portray myself as something special at the best of times but I truly believe that my style of Country music will satisfy true country tastes in the same way most alternative music does. I don’t call it “Alternative Country” because I was brought up on 80′s country-rock-pop pap, that I feel is the Alternative to good country music. I believe people will follow a cause more willingly than just one persons ego and I really want to bring country music back to the good songwriters and away from the multi-billion dollar American music industry.

50K M: You’ve just started your project on SellaBand. Have you thought about the time after reaching the goal of 20k yet? What are your plans then?
Scott: I need investment to be able to take my music to America, I believe that the old tour-bus way is the best, play as many states as possible and build support in the home land of country music. I don’t believe America is the be-all and end-all of music but to dirty up the clean generic crap being passed of as “Country” you need to start over in the same way people like Johnny Cash, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan did.

50K M: And last question: How can we support you to speed up raising your budget?
Scott: The goal is to get me on the road, so money is only needed if its needed, I can only see as far as travelling costs, food money etc because I have very little knowledge of how things are done, the most valuable thing is professional support. I need a manager or an agent or just someone who knows what there doing and what I want to do. That is worth more to me than all the money in the world. My heart is with the music, the performance and the recording, the money is for anyone and everyone who gets me there.

50K MM: Who are you, where do you come from, …? Please tell us something about Sunset Riot.
SR: Sunset Riot is a 5 piece hard rock band from Western Sydney. We’ve been together for around 10 months now and have been gigging solidly for 9. We all love music that is uplifting and heavy hitting, music that is played passionately and that is inspiring or moving in some way. Sometimes live music can become a bit stale so we strive to make our live stage shows as energetic, explosive and entertaining as possible. Recently we recieved a call from producer Steve James (Cold Chisel, Screaming Jets, Mental As Anything, Airbourne, Guitar Hero World Tour) who wanted to cut a record with us. We are currently working together to produce our very first EP; which is very exciting!

50K MM: How did you discover SellaBand?
SR: We actually discovered SellaBand thru Classic Rock Magazine. I (Del) happened to be browsing thru and noticed a small article on Japanese rock band Electric Eel Shock. In the article they mention that they funded their first record thru SellaBand so I thought I’d check it out.

50K MM: How are you going to convince people to believe (and invest) in you?
SR: We are very much a grassroots band. We write about everyday issues dilemmas, problems etc. We have a drink with fans after the show and we interact with fans during the show. We intend to continue building our fanbase as well as fan commitment by contant communication (thru blogs, video-logues, updates etc). We do regular updates on our youtube channel (www.youtube.com/sunsetriot) which helps to build a sense of community. Everybody wants to feel like they ‘belong’ an we recorgnize that we cannot do this on our own. This is a journey and we encourage participation, the whole ‘let’s do this together’ attitude.

50K MM: You have raised about 3% of the budget so far. Have you thought about the time after reaching the goal of 15k yet? What are your plans then?
SR: We have in fact thought about what we could do with the money once its raised, in fact the sooner the better, haha! The plain and simple truth in the music industry is that you MUST advertise and you MUST tour; both of which cost money. Our plan is to make a hard as steel rock record, then advertise and tour as much as we can. Overseas (Europe, Asia) touring is a big goal, there are so many more people there which means our chances of playing to bigger crowds rise substantially.

50K MM: And last question: How can we support you to speed up raising your budget?
SR: I thought you’d never ask Any sort of promotion is great, simply by running a story on us you’ve helped us already, featuring a link to our myspace or facebook (or both) and SellaBand page, mentioning our name, publishing followup interviews or directing people to our youtube page so fans can get to know us better. As I said before we feel like we are a grassroots rock band, we put on a pretty full on stage show but we’ll always be ‘the people’s band’ so get to know us

Finally promising newcomers from Germany again. Here they introduce themselves. Discover My First Robot's music on SellaBand ...

50K MM: Who are you, where do you come from, …? Please tell us something about My First Robot.
Ivan: This is a bit complicated. I (Ivan) came to Trier, Germany because of a job offer in Luxembourg. Since I spend most of my time making music I instantly started searching for a suitable band. Luckily Jim (vocals, guitars) noticed my ad in a local magazine and contacted me. This happened in September 2009. Jim already had a band with Stefan (drums) and Christian (bass) but they wanted to do something new, something that differs from the generic rock band sound. So we started to experiment a bit, wrote a few songs and it seems we might have found our own genre or style: A bit of rock, a lot of electronics and catchy vocals.

50K MM: How did you discovered SellaBand?
Ivan: I actually already knew about SAB before. I had a project there but since back then I was based in Hungary I couldn’t do much to get attention. Most people in the east don’t or wont believe in the concept. It is much easier to get people involved in Germany or the Benelux.

50K MM: How are you going to convince people to believe (and invest) in you?
Ivan: We have a good plan. It’s simple and we are really pushing things to happen. Just in February we wrote and recorded two new songs and had our first photo shooting. We are only raising 10k and I think that’s achievable in one year. We are also constantly looking into ways of getting fans more involved; we have a principle to give everyone a CD for free who comes to our show. Since you buy the ticket you should get a CD. Investing in ourselves is another important point. Even if we have to cover half of the 10k we are happy because fans helped us raising money.

50K MM: You have raised about 2% of the budget so far. Have you thought about the time after reaching the goal of 10k yet? What are your plans then?
Ivan: As soon as we reach our goal we are going to hit the studio without delay. By then we will have all the songs written that we want to put on the album. When we have the CD ready we are going to hit the road and tour Europe. On the tour we will massively promote and give away our CD on each show. Since this is our first album it has to be perfect and basically free for people who pay to see us.

50K MM: And last question: How can we support you to speed up raising your budget?
Ivan: These are hard times for bands on SAB. Believers are busy pulling money out of projects and it is very hard to convince people to invest in us. I think being in the 50k mag is great for a start. The best way to support us is to invest. We think that SAB is a great concept and it should work when the people behind it have the proper knowledge. But most importantly we need to make great music and there’s still a long way to go.

They are one of my favourite newcomer bands at the moment. Listen to Swedish Pop coming from BOA. And maybe you find some bucks in your pockets to help them record their first album.

They are one of my favourite newcomer bands at the moment. Listen to Swedish Pop coming from BOA. And maybe you find some bucks in your pockets to help them record their first album.

50K MM: Who are you, where do you come from, who are the band members? Please tell us something about BOA.
Botond: BOA started out with three members, me (Botond), my cousin Orsi and my brother Attila. Orsi is the singer in the constellation, I play the acoustic- and Attila plays electric guitar. First William joined on drums and after short period of trying out with bass player Gabriel, Olof joined and it seems like he will stick with us in the future.

50K MM: How did you discover SellaBand?
Botond: I first discovered TalenCast on a bands myspace page and it went on from there. At first, the idea of SellaBand seemed impossible for us being such a new band, but I asked the others and we decided to give it a go. For now it turned out better than anyone of us expected.

50K MM: How are you going to convince people to believe (and invest) in you? Please give us some more details about your plan and incentives believers can get.
Botond: Our goal is to record our first album. We have not yet worked out a plan or a strategy for how we can get more believers, but for now we are offering 50% of the revenue from the album we will make with the help of the fans. The SellaBand concept is pretty new for us and we have not yet seen all the possibilities within it. The plan can be modified as we go, so look out for anything new. We will come up with incentives in the future for those how believe and invest in our plan. We are also working on press material, photos of all five of us and some diary kind of videos will also be showing up on the site soon.

50K MM: You have raised 1% of the budget so far. Have you thought about the time after reaching the target of 10k $ yet? What are your plans then?
Botond: When we reach our target of 10k $, we will mainly work on our debut album. You meet a lot of people while you´re out playing gigs and there are some possibilities to work with people that can make our goal a reality. We want to build our reputation slowly by makeing the album and book bigger gigs in Sweden at first and then build it from there. I think people take you more seriously when you have an album on the market. That means that you´ve achieved something and music magazines write about you etc.

50K MM: You are a rather young band playing Swedish pop. Are there any role models in Sweden or elsewhere?
Botond: The world is full of good music and we all have different influences in the band. BOA is what comes out of us playing together. It would be hard to name a band or an artist in this sence, but I think what we all like in music is when it is down to earth and played with honesty. Music can be very simple, yet grandiose if you don´t try to “polish” it to much. That is what we try to achieve when we record our songs.

50K MM: And last question: How can we support you to speed up raising your budget?
Botond: I think you´ve already did help buy writing about us. But keeping an eye on BOA in the near future will be help a lot and of course telling all your friends that we exist.

Not really new on SellaBand anymore, actually they can be called established - The Jeffersons from Canada. They have done very well since they have been featured in December issue of 50K MUSIC MAG. At the moment they have raised 18% of their budget so far - GO! GO! GO!

50K MM: Who are you, where do you come from, …? Please tell us something about The Jeffersons.
The Jeffersons: We are Lisa Brokop and Paul Jefferson. For the past 15 or so years we have been recording and performing as solo acts, but we got married in 2008 and just had a baby in August of 2009…so we thought, why not perform together as well?! We currently live in Nashville, TN, but originally I (Lisa) am from Vancouver, BC, Canada and Paul is from San Francisco, California. Here is a blurb from our promo materials: Since Lisa Brokop burst onto the scene in the early 1990s, she has been a fixture on the country scene. With seven albums and an impressive resume of writing credits, Lisa has earned her place as one of Canada’s most respected singers and songwriters. She has practically grown up in front of her fans and has garnered an incredible 15 nominations for the Canadian Country Music Association’s Female Artist of the Year. Born in San Francisco, Paul Jefferson followed his heart to Nashville where he soon made a name for himself with the hits “Check Please” and “I Might Just Make It” from his 1996 debut self-titled album. He has toured with artists such as Trisha Yearwood, Dwight Yoakam, and John Berry and is also an accomplished songwriter, having penned songs for Keith Urban, Buddy Jewell, and the #1 hit from Aaron Tippin, “That’s As Close As I’ll Get to Loving You.”

50K MM: How did you discovered SellaBand?
The Jeffersons: We came to know about SellaBand through a good friend, Ajay Agrawal. He is a professor of business at the University of Toronto and is actually studying SellaBand. So he introduced us to Johan, the CEO of SellaBand, and the rest is history – here we are. As soon as we heard about the concept we loved it. Both Paul and I have had major label record deals in the past and this seems like such a great way for us, as artists, to retain full control of our careers.

50K MM: How are you going to convince people to believe (and invest) in you?
The Jeffersons: Hopefully with great music. I think our track records speak for themselves. We both have a lot of music out there from our solo careers that people can listen to and get a sense for what we will be creating together. We are also going to work hard to make sure that people know what we are doing and how Sellaband works and also through our blogs, we want to try and connect on a more personal level too.

50K MM: You have raised about 2% of the budget so far. Have you thought about the time after reaching the goal of 50k yet? What are your plans then?
The Jeffersons: Of course, the end goal is always in our minds. We are excited about recording this album and can’t wait to get started. We are just in the process of talking to a few a great producers and are continuing to write songs for the album. The goal of $50,000 is a little daunting, but we are happy to have raised 2% of our budget after only 1 day on SellaBand.

50K MM: And last question: How can we support you to speed up raising your budget?
The Jeffersons: The biggest way you can help is to continue to get the word out. To tell our story and to tell the SellaBand story. Thanks for everything you are doing!

50K MM: Who are you, where do you come from, …? Please tell us something about yourself.
Alex: I was born in Liverpool, lived in London for a few years, and more recently have moved to the countryside not far from Cambridge. I’d never lived outside the city before and I was a little bit anxious as to how I would take to it. Luckily I fell in love with the life, & the village, from the moment I arrived. I’ve two little girls and it’s nice to get out into the fields with them, although this last week we’ve been snowed in. I love all types of music but the songs for this album seem to have been pretty heavily influenced by Randy Newman, Harry Nilsson & David Ackles on one side & NIck Drake, Davey Graham, Bert Jansch, John Renbourn on the other. Although I tend to just write whatever comes out and see what happens. All these songs were written in a bit of a bubble, I wasn’t listening to any new music, which was strange for me. Since I recorded the demo’s at home it’s been an interesting year or so. They’ve played my songs on the tv (Hollyoaks), the radio (Tom Robinson’s BBC 6 Introducing show, a live session for BBC Suffolk, amongst others), & I’ve had loads of interest from various different record companies. Also the Hollywood actor Ashton Kutcher stumbled across my music and started supporting me, which has lead to a lot of interest from all over the world, for which I will be forever grateful. Considering I recorded the songs just for my own amusement, the whole thing seemed to have taken on a life of its own and I’ve decided to go with it.

50K MM: How did you discovered SellaBand?
Alex: I had heard of the website Slice of the Pie, had a look at it and was a interested. So I started searching around for competitors to see what they did. I stumbled across Sellaband and was immediately impressed with the flexibility of the system. So I thought I’d give it a go.

50K MM: How are you going to convince people to believe (and invest) in you?
Alex: This is a really hard question and one on which I’ve taken quite a bit of advice in the forum. I thought I may as well find out the best way forward from the people who know the site inside out. I think the most important thing is the music and I’m hoping that people like it enough to invest! I’ve been getting some great reviews, BBC Introducing Suffolk & The Rebel Riffs Music Blog, have both said it’s one of their favourite albums of the year, which considering it’s currently collection of demo’s recorded in a shed, I’m really proud of. Hopefully this shows the believer’s some potential. I’ve tried to make my incentives value for money across the board, from a 1 part believer upwards. I hadn’t really done this when I first signed up. I’m trying to engage with the community as much as possible, making sure I’m in touch with followers & believers & getting involved in the forum (where you can find a wealth of information & some really nice people). On the other hand I’m trying to bring in outside investment. I’ve just signed with a fantastic booking agent (BPA Live) and they are starting to get me gigs. At each of these I’ll be giving away cd’s for free with information inside about Sellaband, which I’ll also be mentioning during the gig. I’ve been messaging my myspace fans, contacting my mailing list, twittering about the site. Also hopefully in the near future I’ll be lowering my target as well. A producer friend who is currently working on the Brian Ferry / Roxy Music project, has offered to help me at a massively reduced rate, just waiting for the costs from him. Recording starts in March, as he’s agreed to wait for his money until I reach target. I’m totally open to ideas as well. So if anyone has any please get in touch alexhightonmusic@googlemail.com.

50K MM: You have raised about 1 % of the budget so far. Have you thought about the time after reaching the goal of 50k yet? What are your plans then?
Alex: I have no idea how long it will take for me to reach target. As I said the album will be recorded anyway in March, however there’s no point having an album that no one ever hears of. I imagine, even with a reduced target, it could take some time. I’m in for the long haul! Once we’ve raised the money I’ve very good contacts within the industry to work the marketing side for me, BPA Live are working on Festivals & higher profile gigs. I think in the end it will all be down to good old fashioned hard work. Lots of gigs, lots of promotion.

50K MM: And last question: How can we support you to speed up raising your budget?
Alex: Help me spread the word. I need all the help i can get. There’s lots of great artists on Sellaband and I’m honoured to be part of the set up.

Please tell us something about yourself.
Gussie: I was born and raised in Columbus, OH. I have family in both New York and New Jersey where I spent much of my formative years around entertainment people. My Uncle James “Blinky” Miller, was a music professor who first believed in my talent. My Aunt Juanita, who was also a music teacher, MADE me sing in her church choir, where she was the choir director.

Years later, after I became an adult, I lived with my Uncle and got to know my second cousin, James Allen, who is one of the S1W in the legendary rap group, Public Enemy. I desired to sing at the Apollo Theatre, so James escorted me to the Apollo to sing at Amateur Night, because he believed so much in my talent. My background includes being a child actor, and being on cable and national television, including WBNS TV and QUBE TV, which later became the Nickelodeon Network.

Taken under the wing early by owners of several major recording studios, I learned the art of production for commercials and TV & Film work. I learned the art of studio production under the direction of John Kiehl from the Soundtrack Group while I was singing for him doing jingles in Boston. While in Boston, million selling artist Paula Cole was a singer in a band I had in the 80′s. (http://www.wolfram.com/products/mathematica/portraits/johnkiehl/) I have since been a performer at Universal Studios and Disneyland (“The Lion King Celebration”).

Also, I have entertained on two major cruise lines. After moving to Los Angeles from Boston, I performed and/or recorded with Gino Vannelli, LaVerne Baker, Cher, Seal, Mindi Abair and Marcus Miller. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4RdVr8TJOM/) While working with Marcus Miller, Marcus used my voice for Chris Rock’s CW Television Show, “Everybody Hates Chris”. In addition, I have most recently been composing music for commercials and film, and my voice can be heard on Chris Rock’s feature film, “I Think I Love My Wife”.
50K MM: How did you discover SellaBand?
Gussie: My cousin in Public Enemy keeps me informed of everything going on with PE. He had reached out to me about the power of Sellaband in funding their current project. I checked it out and “fan funding” sounded like a great idea! The vision for my first solo effort, “Forever Plan”, began well over 10 years ago. Due to a tough divorce situation and spending much of my time and finances fighting for the custodial rights of my children, “Forever Plan” was put on hold. I also experienced a workplace accident that pushed back completing “Forever Plan”. However many setbacks I encountered, I never lost sight of where I wanted to go with this project. The time has come now, to utilize the power of SAB to finally bring my vision to fruition!

50K MM: How are you going to convince people to believe (and invest) in you?
Gussie: Being a performer, product spokesperson, and having been involved in multiple music projects, I have networked with many people throughout the years. I am reaching out to all of these contacts via social networking sites, such as MySpace, facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Modern Vocalist, Digg, and my blog, called “ArtisMusicai”, http://artismusicai.blogspot.com/) I am also forging co-marketing and branding agreements with companies I support, such as HeadBlade, http://www.headblade.com/

I am in contact with local and national media, including Time Warner Cable (Southern California), who has a program that is considering doing a feature piece on how I am raising capital to fund my record, using Sellaband.

50K MM: You have raised a small percentage of the budget yet. But have you thought about the time after reaching the goal of 50k yet? What are your plans then?
Gussie: I have had a lot of experience in working on major albums with major artists, as a technician, engineer, producer and vocalist. This has given me a unique perspective on how to put a project together. A wise man once told me, “Most of the time it is not knowing what to do, but who to call.” So, I am calling in favors from songwriters, producers, engineers and artists I have worked with over my long career as a side-man. I chose my close friend, David Isaac, who is a 4-time Grammy winner from his work with David Sanborn, Marcus Miller, Anita Baker, and Eric Clapton, just to name a few, to co-produce and engineer “Forever Plan”, because he¹s got some of the best ears I have ever heard. (http://www.titanmusicand filmworks.com/Home.html)

I also reached out to my admired friend, Tony Shepperd, who, along with me, is a Westlake Studios alumnus, to coproduce and engineer because of his work with my idols, Kenny Loggins, Sting and Take 6. Tony was one of the first people to believe in my voice and my vision, and has offered his services to be a part of my team. (http://www.tonysound.com/) My recent experience teaching at Columbia College of Hollywood has introduced me to some amazing production talent, particularly an up and coming young director, Jonathan Lewis. Jon is slated to direct my music videos and behind the scenes DVD for a future incentive on SAB. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFWIKrcmnMY)

My band is led by my good friend and all star-musical director, Alex Alessandroni (Pink, Nelly Furtado, Christina Aguilera, Babyface, Natalie Cole). My band also includes my friends who are well known musicians on million selling CDs, including Herman Matthews (Tower of Power, Kenny Loggins, Amy Grant, Tom Jones) drumming in the project. (http://www.hermanmatthews.com/home.php) My SAB plan will be the catalyst in launching my touring of major US cities; showcasing first in Los Angeles at one of the well-known clubs. I will eventually tour throughout Europe, following the lead of Marcus Miller, and establishing a lucrative international presence. Due to Google, I have a very strong internet presence. SAB is integral in pulling all the pieces together by fan funding the “Forever Plan” project.

50K MM: And last question: How can we support you to speed up raising your budget?
Gussie: It would be great to be featured on the SAB front page, just like Hind, Public Enemy and The Jeffersons. That would really help! Being featured in 50K, I’m sure will also draw attention to my project. Any exposure to your part of the world would also be appreciated!
