50K MUSIC: Who are you, where do you come from, ...? Please tell us something about This Flight Tonight.
Ralph: I'm Ralph, singer of This Flight Tonight, I'm from the isolated island that is New Zealand. The TFT project begun as therapy for myself due to heartbreak. In the last two years I did not expect to be asked to sign with two labels. I've declined both offers because today I'm still doing things for myself. I believe indie bands can do a lot on their own - so long as they have supportive friends and true fans willing to buy stuff.
50K MUSIC: How did you discover SellaBand? What are your expectations here?
Ralph: I first heard about Sellaband through another artist from New Zealand called Fleur Jack who successfully raised 9000EUR. I thought I'd give it a go too and did not realize there would be people out there who would believe enough to invest in my project. I am totally grateful of these people. It's the only way I can see myself recording more music in this tough climate. Let's be honest, I'm part of the 99% and am no Lady Gaga.
50K MUSIC: How are you going to convince people to believe (and invest) in you?
Ralph: I hope that songs speak for themselves, if not I better write some more and post demos online or something. I think our band has a niche sound and I like that we have a small but passionate following. I try and get to know believers in a personal level where possible because I love that interaction. 50K MUSIC: You've just started your project on SellaBand. Have you thought about the time after reaching your funding goal yet? What are your plans then?
Ralph: Yes, I know the exact studio I'd go into to complete 3 more recordings, then I know where to get CDs printed. Then ship those to believers with a personal touch!
