Additional Info
Synthies plus Rock guitars and a catchy sound with a little bit of a reminiscence to the 1980s - that's what My First Robot stands for. Lately the Electro Rockers released their debut "Earth Calls" and celebrated it with their fans on a release party in their hometown of Trier (Germany). I talked to Ivan Beres, who plays the synths, about the album, the party and their further plans...
50K MUSIC: You've just released your debut album "Earth Calls". Are you satisfied with your work?
Ivan: Yes and no. I'm satisfied because we've put a lot of energy and time into this album. No, because it could be better. But here's the thing: I don't think anyone can be completely satisfied with their music. Making music is a process that never really ends. There is always something to improve on. As our sound engineers said "You can't finish, you can only stop."
50K MUSIC: How did your fans and believers respond to the album?
Ivan: So far the feedback is really good. We hear that a lot of people are enjoying the album. Check out our facebook page and see for yourself :)
50K MUSIC: You've realised this album project with the support of your believers on SellaBand. Would you consider to fan-fund your next album as well?
Ivan: Definitely. Of course it's a big support to have the album fan-funded. The funding process itself generates a lot of traffic and hype for the band. This is just as important as the funds we get.
50K MUSIC: On November 4th you celebrated the album release with a gig in Trier. Please tell us something about this.
Ivan: The show was an absolute blast! Komputer Komputer and Orange Audible Disaster helped us to build a superb atmosphere. The sound was great and I think people really enjoyed the show. This was the biggest show that we organized ourselves and it was a huge success.
50K MUSIC: In our last interview you've announced to hit the road and tour Europe after the album release. Is this still your plan?
Ivan: Yes. We are constantly looking for opportunities to go and play wherever we can. In the summer we will play the "greater region" that is Trier - Saarbrücken - Metz - Luxembourg and see where we go from there.
50K MUSIC: Are there any other plans you'd like to share with us?
Ivan: Nothing definite yet. We will probably start a new fundraiser for a new single as we have a lot of new ideas already. We are getting spots to play at more and bigger shows than before and we want to continue this progress.
50K MUSIC: And finally - one thing you want your fans and believers to know.
Ivan: A big thanks for all who believed in the band and helped us along the way. Fans made it possible for us to get here and there's still a long way to go!
