Fleur Jack is sending out her album to the believers and just returned from a North America tour. I talked to her about this tour and what she plans to do next ...

50K MUSIC: You're about to send out your upcoming album to your believers. How did they response to it?
Fleur: So far so good. I only got to send around half of them out before my North American tour so I was getting emails from people saying it had arrived when I was overseas. Everybody who has messaged me so far has said they love it. So i'm hoping that I hear back from everyone else too.

50K MUSIC: You've just returned from your US and Canada tour. Please tell us something about it.
Fleur: I had the time of my life! There is nothing like cruising down the big freeways in 100 degree heat with the windows down singing your lungs out and no one can hear you. I found driving on the other side of the road really easy but got in to trouble a few times crossing the road and i'd like to say I got better at crossing the road but i'd be lying. I spent the first two weeks in Canada and I had five shows between Vancouver, Kelowna and Kamloops. Worked my way down through Washington playing shows in Seattle, Olympia and Portland. I played tourist for a couple of days, driving down the Oregon and California coasts until I hit San Francisco where I went shopping, drank cocktails and went dancing. From there, I headed to my next show which was in Bishop and played a very intimate show at Spellbinder Books to the locals. LA came next and I headed straight to Sacred Tattoo to get my shoulder done. The next few days were spent off the grid at a folk music festival in the Desert and then the party continued in Las Vegas. The next drive was huge, Las Vegas, via the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon, through Arizona on the way to Albuquerque, New Mexico. I had a show in Taos, New Mexico at a solar radio station called KTAO and the next night was at the St James Hotel in Cimarron, NM where the title for my album comes from. I finished up the tour in Trinidad, Colorado and the day I left, I was on the front page of their newspaper which was a great way to end the tour.

50K MUSIC: Will we see you on stages in Europe as well? If yes, where and when?
Fleur: I would love to come to Europe and i'm raising money on AKA music to record my next album there, but after touring the USA, I hope to return next July for another tour. I'm thinking or perhaps I'm just dreaming about basing myself in Seattle but I might just continue to tour rather than having a solid base. I figure that the world is my oyster and if anyone's got the balls to pack up their life and try make it as an artist, I do and I should do it while i'm still young.

50K MUSIC: What comes next after the tour and the album release? What are your plans for the summer?
Fleur: My first single has gone out to radio with the video and I'll release the next single and video in around a month. I'm looking to release the album early next year and do an album release tour around New Zealand with my band. I'm also looking for a booking agent based in the USA so that I can play more shows on my next tour and get a few more high profiled shows as well as more media attention over there. It's easy for me to book shows and tours here in NZ because i've been doing it a long time and to a certain extent, booking overseas is the same and I enjoyed the shows i'd booked for myself but working with someone who does that for a living would make it a whole lot easier next time.

50K MUSIC: How about your other projects Pavlova and the Jandals and The Twitch?
Fleur: My rock band The Twitch has a couple of small festivals coming up in the next few weeks. We also have four dates in between Christmas and New Year which is our summer playing a bunch of small festivals. All out door gigs where there's around 10 bands playing the one day. Pavlova and the Jandals is over. I stole the musicians for my solo album and dont really have the time to run three projects. The idea of Pavlova and the Jandals was to record and album and do a tour and we did that. I stole the band and now we're Fleur Jack and the Jandals. A very good hijacking there!!

50K MUSIC: Do you have any plans for Fan funding projects in the near future again?
Fleur: I'm doing one right now on AKA music, looking to raise money for my next album. I haven't even released this album but i'm looking at it as a plan for the future. Raising money for the first album on Sellaband took me a little over a year and I was very active on the site. Now that my music is keeping me so busy, I have less time to be on the internet so its taking a little longer to get the word out to people on the site that i'm there. But I believe in myself and always buy parts when I can. I think people that can trust that you're as invested as they are will believe in you. They know that you'll work hard to make there money go further.
