Before the summer break I discovered this band among the newcomers on SellaBand. They're very promising and deserve to get supported ...
50K MUSIC: Who are you, where do you come from, ...? Please tell us something about Carved in Gold.
CiG: First of all, thank you for this chance to show ourselfs and let more people know of our band! We are Carved in Gold obviously ;-) The band consist of: Hanne Merel Lakerveld (vocals), Mark Mulder (Drums), Ben Bruschke (Bass) and Maarten Langeree (Guitars). We have started the band leaning on some old songs from a former band named Glass Moon (also on Sellaband in the good old days). Playing those songs brought to much joy and we thought it was a waste not to play them anymore when Glass Moon broke up. But when time has past a lot of new material has been written thats more in the spirit of Carved in Gold. After all we are a diffrent band then Glass Moon.
50K MUSIC: How did you discover SellaBand? What are your expectations here?
CiG: Sellaband isnt new to us. As stated before our former band Glass Moon had a profile and after that our guitarist Maarten had a profile onder the name MR-10 (still does, but not active). Expextations? Hmm.. thats a tough one. To make one thing clear, we believe in our music and in ourselfs! We are commited and are planning to make a name for ourselfs. But in the past few years we have seen Sellaband go quiet. So we dont expect a quick reaching of the target. More of a turtle kinda way. Besides that we hope to make some contacts with other artists and some more exposure.
50K MUSIC: How are you going to convince people to believe (and invest) in you?
CiG: We dislike the agressive approach! Although its
maybe the approach that has the most effect, we are generaly nice people and have respect for others. So we will let people know about our music and our Sellaband page through open means. For example, a forum topic, a post on Facebook, a link at our homepage and mentioning while on stage. We dont like to mail people personaly and throw our music at them. Think of it what you will.
50K MUSIC: You've just started your project on SellaBand. Have you thought about the time after reaching the goal of 15k yet? What are your plans then?
CiG: Oh yes we did. We did that even before joining! Its our debut album we speak of and thats mostly meant for promotion. So we see this only as the first step. And when we reach the target it wil probably not be over between us and Sellaband. Our debut album can be a perfect step to something more and can open doors for us. There is a chance though that we will make our debut album with our own recources (if things take to long). If that will be the case then our project on Sellaband simply will be for the 2nd album. So basicly nothing changes. But it shows we wont wait for things to happen and we will take matters in our own hands when needed.
50K MUSIC: And last question: How can we support you to speed up raising your budget?
CiG: Thats simple; spread the word! Post links on websites you own, drop our name and music wherever you feel it will add or mean something. And the most obvious way to help us... buy a part ;-)
