Additional Info
He has just finished his New Zealand tour with King Kapisi and now he is going to fund his European tour on Sellaband. He will be on stage with The Babysitters Club and special Sellaband guests next year. I asked Maitreya about his plans.
Q: You are currently funding your European Summer Tour 2010. I guess you are the first artist on SellaBand to fund a tour, aren't you? Could you please let us in on your plans? A: Yea, it's definitely a new idea and I'm amped to make it happen. The tour is scheduled to take place in July throughout 11 countries in Europe. The deal is that you buy a ticket from my SellaBand page for 15 Euros: www.sellaband.com/maitreyatour and each show will have a SellaBand support act. Also, The Babysitters Club my new band out here in New Zealand is coming with me, it's like N.E.R.D meets maitreya, dope sounds, we've been touring out here the last few months and we're recording an album this summer (JAN/FEB) so we'll be ready to knock out some mean tunes come tour time. I have promoters on the ground in each city who will also be selling tickets and adding some local knowledge as far venues and promotion. We're tryna sell 500 tickets on SellaBand and another 500 hand to hand and so far we've sold 34, mostly in Amsterdam, London and Germany. If ya keen to help promote a show we're giving a 25% cut to promoters so holla at me if your think you can throw a dope party! Q: Can you already confirm any dates, venues and/or supporting SellaBand artists? A: Yes! The first announcement is for the London show which will be at The Lockside Lounge in Camden. I've played there a few times now and it's always a wicked vibe, so I'm stoked to be coming back! The Francis Rodino Band is confirmed for the gig and expect another name on the bill for sure. I have dates for the whole tour but some really smart person told me the Football World Cup is on early July so expect the dates to be pushed out a week or so... all I know is rugby! Haha.. go All Blacks!! My Tour Manager Bo from Amsterdam is gonna be helping to spread the word both on SellaBand and outside, so she'll be announcing more acts as venues are confirmed. Q: How about the tour itself - do you need local supporters? What should they do to make it a success? A: We've got most of the acts and it's wicked cos alot of bands on SAB have become good friends and it's gonna be dope to do shows together! Any bands who are keen to play, just holla at me or Bo (she'll be on SAB soon) and we'll talk about how to make it happen... most important thing a band can bring to the tour is a local venue they know is hot and a bunch of friends and fans to come party on the night!
