Additional Info
If you wanna get rocked these days, you don't have to search very much. These three guys from Japan are the really Kings of Rock'n'Roll. You can feel it with every EES song you may listen to. With their seventh and upcoming album "Sugoi Indeed" they are going to rescue the world again. Although they are really busy preparing the release of their album, Aki answered a few questions from 50K MUSIC MAG: Q: Where are you from? A: Two of us are from Osaka which is creative and industrial heart of Japan. then we found our drummer Gian in a Tokyo Jazz club. We rescued him from his life wearing suit and pencil tie 7 nights a week and we took him on road around the world. He got his playing with 4 drum stick from playing jazz but now he use it very different to give maximum rock and roll. Q: How would you describe yourself in three words? A: Ha that is easy we are ELECTRIC EEL SHOCK! Or another 3 is Aki, Gian and Kazuto! Q: Where are you coming from artistically, what are your influences? A: I am a very devout follower of Black Sabbath, I am not Buddhist, I am Ozzyist! Q: How would you describe your music? A: It is Classic Rock and New Wave of British Heavy Metal but with our own flavour and up to date. One review said we channel all the greatest rock bands of the last 40 years and that is what I try to do every night on stage. Hendrix said don't think, feel and sometimes when I am on stage I feel his spirit flow through me and my guitar. Q: How did you find the way to Sellaband? What were your experiences on your (allowedly short) way to 50k? A: It was great experience. We are lucky that a lot of fans came to SellaBand and that helped us move quickly but also it is great to see a lot of new fans in our believers. We hope they will all take the opportunity to come see us play live so we can thenk them for their support. We will be touring the album all over the world so we hope to come near your house! Q: What kind of EES album can we expect? Will it be different from your former albums? A: I think it will be the same but also very different. We like to make a change on every album. Early albums we recorded ourselves with very little budget Slayers Bay was recorded on an old 8 track recorder in a practice room. It has a very raw sound but I like it very much. With the next album Go Europe we tried to make much more out of a small budget. We used downtime in a larger studio and worked with an engineer for the first time. It got us a different sound. Then on the last two album Beat Me and then Transwold Ultra Rock we work with great producer Attie Bauw in Holland. Attie produce the last Judas Priest album and has worked with lots of people he recorded the whistle in Scorpions Winds of Change. He is like a professor of Rock & Roll. He not only made a great sound for us he also taught us all about using the studio and engineering and producing. I owe him so much. We even put a whistle on the last album although it is burried a bit! So for the new album armed with all the Attie knowledge we decided to produce it ourself in Japan although we got Attie to come over and engineer the drum sound cos no one gets a better drum sound than him! With the great budget and doing it ourselves again we were able to take a lot more time to put the songs together. (Sorry if we took too long but we were also touring a lot!) Usually when you create something there is something you see later that you think you would like to change but we finished Sugoi Indeed a while ago and I am still 100% happy with it. Q: Could you let us in on your future plans? What comes next after the album release? A: Well lets do that first - there is a lot of work to go into that. We are touring in Japan in September in the run up to the release. We have done more live dates in Japan in the last 12 months than we ever have as a band and we just played Summer Sonic which is Japan's biggest festival. In October we will come to Europe and tour Norway and the rest of Scandinavia and then UK and Germany. We might do Holland but I think we have plans for that early next year. Q: Are there special plans for album distribution and promo? Will there be an album release tour - when and where can we see EES? A: Oh we have done some great license deal with label- we have Univeral Record in Japan so our family and friend are very proud of us. Finally now we can do more in Japan like we have been doing in Europe and USA for the last 10 years. In Europe we have two really good label Rodeostar in germany who are doing a big job for promo. They are printing 1 million postcard to promote our tour! that is a lot of distribution of postcard! and in UK we have Transcend Records and we are on the same record label as Bruce Dickinson's son. Bruce sent us a message the other day that he really likes the new song and video that is on Youtube I was very excited that he would spend time to contact us and look forward to go on his radio show again in October. Q: And at last one important thing about you and your music everyone should know? A: Buy it - that is simple! and if you already have it because you are believer then come to our show and we will have a fun time! Q: And very last question: Do you think Crowdfunding is a viable and sustainable way to finance your albums? Would you go this way again? A: You mean Fan Funding? Yes I think it is a very good way for us - we have the fan from all over the world who are very kind to us. I think this is a great way to make a special release and enable us to make the music that we want to. If our fan like it then we will do it this way again. You know it is second time we did it because we have Samurai 100 club who helped us before in return for guest list for the life of Bob Slayer (mind if he carry on drinking so much they not have guest list for very long! they should look after him!) And remember Rock and Roll is for life but fishing is life and death! And we will see the Rockers on stage soon. They are going to tour the UK this October.
