Bio
Alex Highton has just been a struggling musician. His last band Mohanski did have an album out on a small label called Ugly Nephew Records. They got really good reviews but the label had no money and no one bought their record. Mohanski was just a bunch of mates and it sadly went down the pan... their music is really worth a listen. So, check them out at www.myspace.com/mohanski. Back to Alex now: When he was 19 he was in a band that very nearly got signed to a big deal. Again it imploded before anything happened. This put him off making music for a good five or six years, during which he mainly smoked herbal jazz cigarettes all day (amongst other things) and slowly lost his mind. In fact he only really found it again when he moved to the countryside of Cambridgeshire four years ago. Now he drinks a little (not much) and generally enjoys the simple life. It was in early 2009 when Hollywood star Ashton Kutcher gave the „Wannabe Harry Nilsson“, as Alex describes himself, an awesome boost on Twitter and uses Alex' music on his website. Also in 2009 Alex released his first solo album „Woodditton Wives Club“. And with every song you hear that the village life does him good. The album was received and reviewed absolutely well: Sic Magazine: "A Great British Album...charmingly individual...(it) exists in an idyll not a long ramble from the Village Green Preservation Society...(an) album to slip on and enjoy from year to year.“ UK Music Search: "music that transports you to long hot summer days and hazy mornings. With toes dipped in psychedelia, folk and pure pop. A sublime and hypnotic sounding collection of songs...a singer/songwriter destined for impressive things...a gorgeously realised first impression" Rebel Riffs: „... Folk? Pppffffftttt. World Class songs. ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE. ...“ Heaven Music Mag: „... such a beautiful, sympathetic album …" with „... perfect simplicity ...“
